Introduction/course overview. Mugshots, general comments about the working environment of lab, Photoshop and materials. Create classmate phone number list (of anyone willing to share their digits with the class). ORDER ALL OF YOUR SUPPLIES IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST CLASS MEETING IN ORDER TO GET THEM IN TIME - RECEIPT DUE NEXT WEEK PERIOD. Review the topics from beginning photography and the first assignment handouts – all can be found on the class website. Verify that your camera can shoot in RAW mode. Bring your camera to class on Monday, along with 5+ samples of your work from previous photo classes. Discuss elevator speech. MAKE SURE TO HAVE SOME RAW FILES TO WORK WITH ON MONDAY!!! Intro to Scavenger Hunt assignment. Check class website for handouts/assignments.

Give elevator speech and show your five photos. BRING YOUR BOOK and a receipt for your supplies TO CLASS (this is a graded assignment). More on Scavenger Hunt. Review of camera modes and settings and camera raw (using your own images). Intro to Adobe Bridge, image management, color spaces and…

Lecture: uploading files to server, color strategies, backing up data, making contact sheets, image size and resolution, cropping. In class assignment.  Check class website for handouts/assignments.

RAW import. Introduction to CS5 workspace. Introduce constructed color and show previous work, distribute filters. Check class website.

In-process critique of Scavenger Hunt.Show examples of CC. (Both moved from Tuesday)

In class exercise. Additional Photoshop lessons.

Image window, rulers, ‘snap to”, palettes, work space settings, info, histogram palette, tool bar and presets, tool palette, brushes in Photoshop, history, layers, channels, selection tools, modifier keys, move tool. (moved from Tuesday).

Additional Photoshop exercises. Lab

Masking (redux). Precise color correction. Merge to HDR in class demo. Briefly discuss image stacks. Introduce final project unit. Check class website for handouts/assignments.

Printing demonstration. Introduce panorama assignment and Final Project. Discuss midterm. In class work on Conversations with Yourself. Rework any other files in preparation for your midterm portfolio. Night photography.

Critique: Conversations with yourself. Discuss final project unit. In class work on professional opportunity packets.

Break class into A&B Groups. Individual meetings to discuss final project ideas. Discuss professional opportunities.
Finish up working on your stuff and printing for your midterm portfolio. Check class website for handouts/assignments.

10/7 - 10/11

FINISH UP MIDTERM STUFF.

Critique Panorama images (FINAL, RETOUCHED, VERSIONS OF FILES DUE). Turn in finished prints (at full resolution at 300ppi) of all regular assignments and an contact sheet of your scavenger hunt. Deposit layered copies of all files (except individual scavenger hunt and the in-class exercises) to the drop box. Assign chapters to research groups. Check class website for handouts/assignments.

10/14 - 10/18

Turn in completed professional opportunity packets (unsealed, but stamped with appropriate postage and ready to mail). PowerPoint presentations of Final Project unit. Lecture/Lab.

Finish PPTs of Final Project. Discuss class photo. Break Class into Critique groups, discuss expectations. Check class website for handouts/assignments.
